Mitochondrial
What is MOTS-C?
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial ORF of the Twelve S rRNA type-c)
Mechanism of Action
MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome. Research indicates it plays a role in metabolic homeostasis by activating AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) and affecting the folate-methionine cycle. Studies suggest it may improve insulin sensitivity and regulate cellular metabolism.
Peptide Structure
Mitochondrial-derived peptide (16 amino acids)
Research Applications
Mitochondrial function
AMPK activation
Metabolic homeostasis
